Support to the Review of the AU Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Policy (AU PCRD)

To effectively respond to the changing dynamics of conflict, peace, and security, the Governance and Conflict Prevention Directorate conducted a comprehensive assessment of the AU Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Policy (2016).

The TfP’s consistent contribution to PCRD has been recognised, resulting in its designation as one of the strategic partners for the review. One of the members of the TfP family was selected as one of the ten High Level Experts for the review. The TfP Partners conducted a preliminary assessment of the Policy and identified important areas and factors to inform the review process. Furthermore, the TfP had the privilege of receiving an invitation to participate as a Rapporteur in a Closed Expert-Level Meeting on the Revision of the AU PCRD policy in Cairo. Thanks to the assistance provided, the suggested revisions from the meeting were successfully incorporated into the final submission. Alongside the highly appreciated technical support provided during the review process, the TfP also generously provided substantial financial assistance. This encompassed financial support for the organisation of the two workshops.

The TfP also provided assistance in translating the Revised Policy into the languages of the AU, with the aim of facilitating its submission to the Assembly in February 2024. TfP is dedicated to providing ongoing support for the operationalization of the PCRD Centre in Cairo and ensuring the effective implementation of the Policy.
