ISS/TfP successfully conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) course on “Gender Mainstreaming and dealing with SGBV in Peace Operations”, for the East Africa Standby Force Planning Element in Entebbe, Uganda 9-25 March 2018. The 12-day course enhanced the skills and knowledge of the regional trainers not only on the course content, but on the basic principles of adult learning as well. One of the participants accredited the course for enhancing his knowledge as follows: “We have conducted two SGBV courses, but from this training, we can conduct it better, the methodology truly helps with learning and retaining knowledge. This methodology will definitely make a difference in our trainings.” The purpose of the training was to roll out the new training package that was developed by the ISS/TfP in collaboration with the AU to ensure standardised training on gender Mainstreaming and Dealing with SGBV in Peace Operations for civilian, police and military deployments to peace support operations.
