ISS attended and presented at the seminar organized by the Dag Hammarskjold Foundation (DHF) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), entitled Regional engagement in conflict prevention and sustaining peace: Lessons from West Africa, in Accra, Ghana. The seminar identified factors that contribute to the success of prevention and sustaining peace efforts, as well as what has worked less well. The outcomes of the seminar will be summarized in a DHF policy brief and will inform ongoing discussions on the implementation of SCR 2282 and A/RES/70/262 at the UN and other international fora. Findings from the consultation also contributed to the discussions at SIPRI annual Forum on Peace and Development that take place on 3-4 May 2017. Two ISS Researchers attended and presented respectively on sessions entitled: (1) The role of regional actors in preventing conflict and sustaining peace; (2) Overview and discussion on sustaining peace resolutions – where are we now?
