From 18 to 23 April 2016, ISS/TfP, lead by Riana Paneras, organised and facilitated AU PSSG technical planning workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The objective of the technical planning workshop was two-fold: prepare and finalise a number of core AU Police Guidelines and SOPs in support of the AU Police Policy in support of ASF Peace Operations, and secondly to consider the Maputo work plan on the ASF for 2016-2020 and how the work of the PSSG will planned in support of the ASF work plan. Police experts representing AU, RECs/RMs, except NARC (had to withdraw due to other commitments), AMISOM, GIZ, EU, ICRC were participated. The technical expert meeting discussed on the final Draft of SOP for deployment of IPOs and FPUs to PSOs including Annexures; Draft guidelines for roles and functions of IPOs in PSOs; and Draft SOP for IPOs Assessment for Mission Service (AMS) and Draft SOP for Assessment of Capability (AOC) for FPUs deployment for service in AU PSOs and Annexures. The technical team of experts discussed on the Maputo work plan on the ASF for 2016-2020. The team prepared a draft workplan for the work of the PSSG in support of the implementation of the ASF work plan.
