Representatives from the participating organisations shared views and experiences on the current state of DDR globally with regard to planning, monitoring and evaluation of DDR programs. Members interrogated areas of cooperation and exchanged ideas on best to enhance collective efforts on the group's role in DDR while improving training programs to especially benefit post conflict countries and communities. The meeting discussed challenges presented by contemporary asymmetric threats and members were asked to share empirical knowledge on ways of Preventing Radicalization and Extremism Leading to Terrorism (PRELT) so that institutions can be able to work in post conflict societies. The meeting also agreed on working to increase national and regional awareness on how Community Violence Reduction (CVR) can be managed in peacebuilding efforts.

The meeting was chaired by the two Co-Chair Organisations: the Kofi Anan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and the CCCPA. The meeting brought together members and strategic partners of the IDDRTG that are Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) training institutions that included the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), Ecole de Maintien de la Paix (EMP), the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) (via Skype), the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations-Office of Rule of Law and Security Institution (UNDPKO-OROLSI), the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
