ISS/TfP attends the African Union Peace Support Operations Division (AU PSOD) Police Planning Workshop

Annette Leijenaar, Meressa Dessu, and the ISS/TfP researcher and trainer at the ISS office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the Police Commissioner of the African Union – United Nation Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Hester Paneras, represented ISS/TfP during the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) arranged a AU Peace Support Operations Division (PSOD) Police Planning workshop. The workshop was facilitated by GIZ and held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 29-30 April 2015. The workshop focused on the 2015 support towards the AU PSOD police component as well as the planned next phase of support. The objective of the organizations in participation of this planning workshop was to ensure clear directions and allocations of roles and responsibilities was established amongst participating institutions in support of the AU PSOD police component. Mr. Sivuyile Bam, Head AU PSOD and Mr. Crowd Chirenje, Head of the AU PSOD Police component clarified issues that need to be address. The most significant outcome of the workshop was the establishment of a clearly, defined collaborative partnership between the AU PSOD, GIZ and ISS/TfP.
