From 08-16 September 2016, ISS/TfP and the African Centre for Peace and Security Training (ACPST) conducted the training session of the African Peacebuilding Innovations for Change (APIC) in Mutare, Zimbabwe. The “bootcamp”-styled pilot training was the main session within the long-term capacity engagement that ISS is conducting with UNDP Zimbabwe and four Zimbabwe-based civil society organisations (Search for Common Ground, Centre for Conflict Management and Transformation, Ecumenical Church Leaders Forum, and Culture Fund trust of Zimbabwe). The process was a capacity building initiative that focused on assisting key peacebuilding stakeholders in Zimbabwe in the process of enhancing planning capacity skills. It was aimed at developing peacebuilding practitioners and institutions’ capacities to address structural and systemic threats to sustainable peace at policy, implementation and monitoring levels. The session was preceded by a 3-day preparation workshop from 09-11 September in Harare.
